To all the visitors who have blessed our lives by supporting our long running family Christmas display:
Much rumor and speculation has surrounded my decision to finally discontinue the 40 year old Clot Family Holiday Display tradition.
The truth of the matter is that after the passing of our display’s patriarch and founder, Bill Clot in 2007, it has become clear to
me that our Christmas display was an operation with a missing man. Many of the people closest to the display agree with me on this
point. You see, for me (and a lot of them) it was all about doing the display with my Dad. Then spending the holidays with my Dad
and enjoying the display with my Dad. Without his guiding light it just isn’t the same and so I decided it was the right time to
turn the page and move forward knowing that our family touched the lives of literally millions of people. I know it has been hard
for many in the community to see it finally come to an end. I assure everyone that it has been an emotional year for our family as well.
I appreciate all the kind words of support over the years as well as the overwhelming generosity shown to my parent’s favorite charity,
The Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami. The display has generated
nearly $500,000 for the charity and I will do my best to carry that legacy on for as long as I live.
I want to thank my family starting with my wife Diane, and my son Joshua, for helping
me come to this final decision because it sure wasn’t easy. And my in-laws, Sandie (God rest her soul) and Al for being the best parents
ever, putting up with a “Christmas Crazed” family for all these years. A lot of working around OUR schedule based on the holidays,
I’ll tell you.
I’d also like to thank all of my Dad’s neighbors who are really the greatest people in the world! Lastly, I would like
to thank the hundreds of friends who volunteered over the years to make the display what it was – a labor of love. My Dad loved each and
every one of you! I’ll leave the website up indefinitely as a memorial to my Dad and this whole magical thing.
Unfortunately, it is true what they say: all good things must come to an end. It’s been a great run!
Happy Holidays!
